Moderator:
- John Chemaly – Trinity EMS (now PrideStar Trinity EMS), Founder and Former CEO
Panelists:
- Rajia Abdelaziz – invisaWear, CEO & Co-Founder
Rajia is the CEO of invisaWear, a company that creates smart jewelry & accessories with safety technology hidden inside. With just two clicks, invisaWear's life-saving technology alerts friends, family, and even the police that the user is requesting help.
At the young age of 21, Rajia developed this innovative technology, turning down a prestigious job opportunity with Google to pursue her passion for making a difference in the world. Her mission is to combat the alarming statistics surrounding sexual assault.
In just a few short years, Rajia took invisaWear from launch to over 100,000 customers, successfully raising millions of dollars to develop the product.
Rajia's commitment to the business led her to secure partnerships with two multi-billion-dollar companies and industry leaders in security, ADT Security, and Telus Communications.
She recently acquired another safety company called Flare, which had received an innovation award from TIME Magazine and garnered praise from celebrities like Natalie Portman. Since taking over a few months ago, Rajia doubled Flare's monthly revenue and secured a major distribution deal with Follett bookstores. Flare will now be sold in 35 major university bookstores this upcoming summer.
Rajia has become one of the most successful young entrepreneurs in Massachusetts. She was recently recognized as part of FORBES' 30 Under 30 list and the Boston Globe's Tech Power Players list. She was also previously named to BostInno's 25 Under 25 list.
invisaWear boasts over 2 Million followers on social media and has been featured in numerous media outlets, including Forbes, Good Morning America, TODAY, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Rachael Ray, and more.
invisaWear was selected as one of TechCo's Top 100 Startups and received a prestigious New England Innovations Award.
Rajia's innovative work has gained widespread recognition and acclaim.
Rajia's journey as a minority female CEO fuels her goal to inspire other young entrepreneurs to follow their dreams. She mentors aspiring entrepreneurs at UMass Lowell.
- Teddy Panos – InsideLowell, Founder
A long-time fixture in the Lowell media scene, Teddy Panos founded InsideLowell, a 21st century multi-media company shaped by his over 30-year career in television, radio, newspaper, digital and social media.
Before launching InsideLowell in October of 2022, Panos capped a nearly 15-year run as Host of the Morning Drive Show on 980WCAP-AM, where he became a go-to source for local news and information. Whether breaking major news stories or securing interviews with newsmakers ranging from Presidential candidates and members of the U.S. Congress to local officials and community figures, he could be counted on to tell the story behind the story through his unique style and humor.
Prior to radio, Panos authored the first ever blog for the Lowell Sun newspaper, while also penning a weekly column. Before that, he was a 2-time award winning Sports Anchor/Reporter for WNDS-TV in Derry, NH, a station carried on over 2-million cable households throughout New England. Teddy got his start in television and media working as a Sports Producer at WHDH-TV in Boston from 1992-1999.
Panos holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from Emerson College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from UMass-Lowell. He is a graduate of Dracut High School.
When not busy covering the local scene, Panos helps manage his family restaurant in Downtown Lowell and does fundraising for the Megan House Foundation. In his free time, he enjoys spending time and sharing laughs with friends and family. The moments he cherishes most, however, are those spent with his wife Rylee and their beautiful children Ari Stavros and Ruby Alexandra.
